[Quick Review] Bunnahabhain 33 years old - The Dalswinton Series II (Claxton's)

After Clynelish 30, let’s have a look at the Bunnahabhain 33 years old from The Dalswinton’s Series second edition from the folks at Claxton's Spirits.

My tasting notes:

Nose: The nose is warming and luxurious, leather, chocolate, tobacco leaves, slight wood char, prunes and hazelnuts, brown sugar and a hint of citrus.

Palate: The palate is oily, thick and mouth coating, it’s rich and chewy, with a moreish mix of oak spice, dried fruit (raisins, figs) dark chocolate and more leather. What a dram!

Finish: The finish is long and quite drying with some oak spice, liquorice, nuts, bitter orange and hints of candied ginger, cinnamon and quality milk chocolate.

With water: A few drops of water add some all-spice and hints of aniseed to the nose, the palate gains in rich silky chocolate before spicy notes start building up on the mid to late palate, the finish is slightly spicier with the addition of some almond notes.

That’s a second fantastic dram from the Dalswinton Series, a proper by-the-fire dram, sitting in an old leather armchair. Though call between the Clynelish and the Bunnahabhain, but the Bunna might have a slight edge for me.

Bring on the next one!

Slàinte all!

Thanks again to @claxtonsspirits for the sample.
